The best things in life come for free — and yes, that includes the beloved McRib sandwich from McDonald’s. But there’s a catch: You’ll have to shave off that facial hair in order to qualify.
In a Monday news release, the fast-food titan announced that it will give away 10,000 free McRibs to hungry — and hairy — dudes who take to Twitter and Instagram and post public images of their clean-shaven faces.
Sure, the tangy sauce-slathered pork sammie — whose official 2020 release date is Dec. 2 — seems like a recipe for disaster for any hirsute Harry. But the move comes as a partnership between McDonald’s and No-Shave November to promote awareness for the nonprofit, which raises money for cancer research.
The offer for the savory serving — which also comes topped with onions and pickles, and served on a roll — isn’t limited to just those who grew out their facial hair last month in support of No-Shave November. McDonald’s added in the release that all can participate, specifically anyone with a “baby-smooth” face or even those who post an image of themselves wearing a face mask.
In October, the company announced the McRib could come back in early December — and that for the first time since 2012, it would return to all of its 14,400 US locations. McDonald’s first introduced the limited-time-only sandwich in 1982. The roughly 500-calorie serving has become so popular over the years that fans even created an online McRib Locator, which people could search in order to get their hands on one.
In 2019, “McRib Season” was limited to 10,000 McDonald’s locations.
This new McRib sandwich offer cannot be redeemed from Insta Stories or Twitter’s new Fleets. Users must tag @mcdonalds and include the hashtag #Shave4McRibSweepstakes.
